Khelben Mortis

You never know what's on. That's kind of the point.

About

Just who or what is a Khelben Mortis??

Well, I guess Khelben Mortis is me. It's definitely something of a stage name for someone who doesn't often occupy a stage. Not much more than a username—an online alias we all live behind in the online world. My real name is Randall so it's not like my family calls me up and asks for Khelben, but as our society devolves into a duality of living in reality and living behind a screen, it's fun to make the most of that technology in order to be able to live as Khelben Mortis and Randall simultaneously, even though we are fundamentally the same person.

In this digitized fraction of my life, I guess I'm something of a variety streamer, broadcasting all sorts of random stuff from my humble abode in Canada.

As far as gaming goes, I was once something of a figure in the Super Smash Bros. Melee community way back in the Golden Age of Melee as RJM, hosting some of the first bi-weekly tournaments in my region and one national event which was a pretty big deal at the time. But since then the SSBM community has exploded in popularity, dwarfing anything I ever did, but I love to see it happen and I still love to play.

I play and stream a pretty eclectic, though limited, variety of games including but not limited to: Heroes of the Storm, Metal Gear Solid, Snooker 19, World of Warcraft, Cities: Skylines, Spider Solitaire, and Chess. Plus whatever the hell else falls into my transient pattern of gaming interests.

That said, a big part of the cultural zeitgeist that has allowed me to form some sort of online community centres around sharing niche mutual interests across the world, typically in sport. I've met many wonderful people and many who I consider my true friends through sharing our love and passion for snooker and darts, both of which are precision sports that have little in common outside of being attractive to a particular personality type that can hardly be quantified. I've spent a significant fraction of my life involved with billiards in general, and particularly snooker. I am one of a handful of certified snooker referees in Canada and was, for several years, the president of the Canadian Billiards & Snooker Association.

So hey, if you like billiards, this isn't a bad place to hang around to stay on top of the action on and off the baize in both the amateur and professional scene—or if you like darts, we're often on top of what's going on in that world as well. But if you're a fan of neither, and instead like Super Smash Bros., or just some wildly random online content in general, I like to think we've made a friendly little community here that is welcoming and receptive to all people.

Sometimes, depending on who you are, we might seem a little boring, or maybe a little too uncensored for certain tastes at times, but I can promise that those who hang around for any extended period of time are all good people and we are all united in the one truth that despite our differences, all people share much more in common than not. Cherish that which we share and embrace that which we do not and that, my friends, is the path to spending your time online with some sense of joy, blissfully ignoring the giant cess pool of depravity and senseless division that dominates the majority of the internet!
